Christmas gift shopping is indeed a very difficult task for many people. The three major things you need to keep in mind when selecting a unique gift for someone you care for, are:
-The list of all the gifts you have sent him/her so far
-The list of al the gifts that the person may have received from others (yeah, you got to second guess that)
-The list of all the items the recipient already has
Your gift must not include any of the above items or else, it fails to be a unique gift. Add to that the fact that you have a few dozen people to send gifts to, and the list of things you need to remember for each of them is just enough to make you go crazy! On the other hand, if your gift fails to be unique, you stand to lose your face! So, is there really any way to get out of this mess?
Well, actually there IS! What I do is that a couple of months before the start of Christmas, I make a list of several unusual items I may send out as Christmas gifts to my loved ones. This list saves me not only from useless stress one may have when selecting a Christmas gift, but also the trauma of social embarrassment arising out of not being able to send a unique gift! So where do you get such unusual gift ideas from?
If you are like me, you send gifts to many different persons of varying age-groups. Thus, your gift recipients may include your immediate family members, kins, friends, neighbors, and strangers. If so, then the list of your gift recipients may encompass men, women, boys and girls. Now, you might be thinking that I visit a dozen shops to collect all the necessary gifts, right? If you thought so then you are dead wrong! Let me tell you of a shortcut I personally use and you can too!
Ever since I have gotten my internet connection a few years back (it comes with unlimited bandwidth, meaning you can surf, browse and download as much as you want), I have stopped wasting time in driving to multiple gift shops. The internet is a place where, more often than not, you get all of your necessary items at one place, and that too, for cheap compared to the prices charged by offline gift stores.
Don’t think that just because online gifts are cheaper you would be getting mediocre gifts! In fact, I have gotten some of the most exquisite gifts ever from online stores. So where do I head to?
Well for starters, my first point of landing is usually Amazon.com. If you ever visit their store, you would be amazed at the amount of stuff they make available to you; at times it feels like the whole world’s gifts can be purchased from them. In rare cases, if I don’t get an item of my choice from them, I hop over to Bestbuy.com. If nothing works, I head over to Google and search for the names of gifts I wish to buy. I usually avoid eBay unless I know the seller really well.
So that is the shortcut I use for gift shopping, and you can too. It not only saves your precious time and gasoline, but also the frustration and social embarrassment of sending an unwanted or commonplace gift. So the next time you want to send something truly unique to your near and dear ones, you know where to head to!
